Currently, and likely this will continue for much of the summer, I will be scheduling client sessions Monday - Thursday of each week, 8am - 5:30pm.

If you have need to consult with me outside of those hours, it is important that you contact me in advance, by telephone or email, during normal business hours, to make special arrangements.

For the next several weeks, I will be involved in a project that has me out of the office most, or all of the day, on Friday’s.

More information concerning that, will follow.

Someone just emailed requesting instructions for posting comments to this blog. Actually, it’s easy. The following is all you need do:

IF you wish to send a comment to me directly and privately, simply click on the link to email. Nothing you write to my email will appear on this blog UNLESS you request that I post it. IF you select this option, I will be the only individual reading your comments.

IF you wish to comment for public view, click on “Comments” at the bottom of the blog post you wish to reply to. You will then need to register as a subscriber. This is simple and your info is safe with me. Once you have subscribed to the blog, you can then log in, click on “Comments,” and enter your thought. That comment will appear on this page for public view.

I hope this answers any questions about that. If not, we’re learning together. I’m new to blogging, new to learning Word Press… and have a way to go with it; particularly so, since I have little time to dabble and tweak things.

IF there is someone reading this blog who is experienced in Blogging with Word Press, your assistance and/or advice will be appreciated!

It’s Tuesday, November 4th and the polls don’t close for another few hours. I hope EVERYone reading this has exercised their RIGHT to VOTE. I have. It is TIME for CHANGE!

For those checking this blog for an update of my schedule, I have great good news this week: I will be available regular business hours ALL of this WEEK. It feels WONDERFUL!!!!!

And now…. some Mind Ramblings……

Something rather strange occurred last weekend that got me to thinking. It is said, “you can’t go back home” - meaning, as I interpret that particular wise-ism - that though any of us from time to time might find ourselves harboring some desire to return to a former state or place of being, if we actually attempt to DO so - it’s just not going to be the same. We can’t go back, only forward.

From time to time over the last several years, Marty and I have contemplated one day relocating back to the Jacksonville area…. not necessarily Ashland, where we lived for the first 18 years of our marriage (for him, the first 40 years of his life) …. not to Jacksonville, where I was born and raised… but to SOMEWHERE in that general area.

A few years ago, we even spent some time looking for properties in the area…. feeling a need to be closer to my mom and step father as they aged. It’s amazing the way the pathway to relocation at that point in time became blocked at every turn. Obviously, the Universe was sending a message: “No, this is not the right time or the right Path for you - at least not right now.”

Thus here we are, frequently making the drive between Forgotonia and the middle of Illinois. The situations (relative to my folks) that we knew were coming, and that might be easier to help with, if we only resided nearer to them, are in full bloom. But here we are, still firmly rooted in River City. Driving back and forth. Wondering WHY the other Path didn’t work out?!? There must be some important REASON we need to be where we are for now?!? What might that reason be? Unfortunately, the Inner Intuitive Wise One, does not always answer such questions, even when we persist in asking and wondering. Though from past experience, I’ve learned that eventually, given enough time, Wisdom and Understanding do come.

On Sunday, relatives of ours finished moving from their long time residence in Franklin, to a quaint and interesting two story older home in Waverly. The weather was beautiful… the charm of both of these small small towns was experienced as particularly peaceful, nostalgic, and overwhelmingly attractive, during the hours we spent there.

In fact, the energy of the moment was so peaceful and enticing that we opted to take a scenic route home… detouring through Ashland, where we used to live. As we headed for Ashland, I got to daydreaming about how it might be to return there to live sometime in the far future, perhaps a decade or so from now. And my mind wandered to daydreaming, wondering what it might be like to live there at that future time.

To my surprise, from somewhere beyond conscious thought, popped the question: “If your old house would turn out to be for sale at that time, would you want to purchase it to live in again?”

In response to that Inner World question, my mind drifted to the most obvious gripe concerning the idea. Something that’s bothered me since about two years after we sold the house. The mid-70’s ranch home we designed ourselves and custom built (subcontracting out some of the work, doing much of it ourselves) was sided with a beautiful cedar siding on which we then used (to our mind) a perfect shade of Olympic semi-transparent stain. This is a stain that soaks deep into the wood and can last a lifetime, changing a bit with time, but generally only in beautiful ways. It can be touched up lightly if desired, but was considered to be a mostly maintenance free application, that would increase in beauty through the decades. A couple years after we sold the place, someone painted over the stain. The house has not looked “right” to me since. But the only viable “fix” would be to repaint a different color OR yank off the siding and reside the whole thing. Bummer. This led to my wondering what in the hell an assortment of owners since us have done to louse up the interior as well?!? (yeah, I’m a nutcase when it comes to houses).

As if on cue to my line of thought, when we drove down our old block, we noted a “for sale” sign in the yard of our former home. I don’t for a moment believe this is a “sign” from the Universe that the time to relocate is NOW. We have far too much going on to contemplate a change of residence - and heck, once my folks are gone, we’d probably much rather be right here where we are.

However, once back home, I could not resist looking up my old place on Realtor.com. The listing is totally skewed… listing it as a one bathroom, rather than a bath and a half, UNTIL you actually click on the listing. And the square footage is off by at least 200 square feet. The house is 1786 square feet and is listed as 1500 and something instead. My wonderful custom kitchen cabinets have been painted white. I love white cabinets, but in the pics these somehow just don’t look so good. A wonderful range hood has been removed from over the island cooktop. And to add instult to injury per the exterior, the place has been reroofed with shingles of much lower grade than the original. Pics at realtor.com only show the front of the house and a couple pics of the kitchen and one of the dining room. I’d love to see what happened to my wonderful living room. But perhaps it is best not to know. If it were still looking GREAT, I’m sure there’d be a pic of it posted.

So nope, you can’t go back. The home we custom designed and carefully appointed 34 years ago… just ain’t the same place. I would not opt to purchase it now, unless it became give-away priced. When we arrived back home, I realized my current home IS “home”….. I can’t even reconcile my former Ashland residence (what it has become) with any of the wonderful memories I have from the years we lived there.

I think there’s a lesson in here somewhere about looking forward, not back.

That’s my stream of consciousness gunk for today.

Before I get into offering a comment or two concerning issues that I believe are important, particularly NOW, for each of us to consider, here’s an update concerning my schedule for the next few days:

Today, Thursday, October 30th, I’m in my office, normal hours

Tomorrow, Friday, October 31st, I will be on the road traveling to visit my mom at a nursing home halfway across the state, and my step-father, who is currently hospitalized. I will have my cell phone along and if you need to reach me, probably the best times to catch me on Friday will be between 8am and 9am Central time (9-10 am Eastern, 6 - 7am Pacific time); AND any time after 12 noon Central Time (after 1pm Eastern, after 10am Pacific)

Saturday and Sunday (Nov 1 and Nov 2), I will be available most of the day each of those days via my cell phone.

Monday, November 3rd, will find me back in my office, keeping normal business hours.

Most importantly IF you have not voted already, do make sure to get out and VOTE on Tuesday, November 4th.

Now to those comments applicable to the title of today’s post:

So much, these days, clients, family and friends are expressing concern for personal finances, and the economy in general. There is a great deal of fear-mongering being dished out even within the spiritual/metaphysical community. In addition, circulating amongst the spiritual community, is a bundle of 2012 hype - which I will address more fully in another post some time soon.

What I’d like to toss out today for your consideration, is the idea/possibility that even in the midst of financial concern and a sense of “troubled times”…. there can emerge Blessings in Disguise, for those who have the sensibility to recognize these for what they are.

Relatives of mine are losing their home. Sounds plenty awful, huh? It’s the reason I will be available mostly by cell phone this weekend. Marty and I will be helping them move. And yet, in the midst of this event, I see a blessing in disguise, and I believe they do too.

This loss comes not through any unwise or bad choices/decisions on their part. Mistake you not, concerning that. Nope. It’s the result of things that could happen to ANY of us. This is a couple with two children. A health situation the wife has had to navigate has left her unemployed for three years, medical bills and lost income resulted in refinancing the house. Then came the complication of hospital acquired MRSA. Their health insurance company refuses to cover the cost of treatment for MRSA resulting from hardware installed in her body during a surgical procedure. Can a patient sue the hospital in such situation? Nope. According to attorneys there are so many cases it’s considered a normal risk, not malpractice. (Or some such excuse).

End result is that this couple fought the good fight, attempting to keep up with bills until their furnace went out last week. With the mortgage holder unwilling to renegotiate an already unworkable mortgage, and no funds to replace a furnace that can’t be repaired…. they are left with no choice but to walk away from their home and their mortgage. Everybody’s nightmare.

And yet…. a home they’ve found to rent is larger, nicer, with room arrangement better suited to their family’s needs … and comes with rent that is half the amount of their mortgage payment. Not to mention, there will be no real estate taxes, and a lesser cost renter’s insurance, rather than homeowners.

For certain, their credit score is about to take a nose-dive, probably long-term. But with the same thing happening for so very many good people who’ve worked hard for decades, paid their dues, and managed their money as carefully as possible - only through time and circumstance to find themselves in positions similar to what I’ve just described - I’m left wondering: how important is that credit score going to be? Are there other values? And most importantly, IS there a message here for all of us?

My relatives may be losing their home, their credit score headed down the drain, and yet it’s looking as if the actual quality of their lives may be about to IMPROVE MAJORLY!

A humorous side note: The husband of this couple had been doing tarot spreads seeking answers to their financial dilemma. This was before the furnace went out, which acted as the catalyst for change. He told me each time he tossed a spread, the cards seemed to be talking about a change of residence and financial improvement. A change of residence at the time seemed so impossible to him, that he thought he’d lost his “touch” with the cards. Nope. Those cards are always right. Sometimes we don’t understand the message, or garble the interpretation…. but tarot can and does show the way.

The message I extract from this is that it’s important today to become as fluid and flexible as possible, to think creatively, and to keep an eye out for those “Blessings in Disguise”!!! Because they do happen. Even now.

Greetings Everyone!

This blog will be for the purpose of sharing my various rambling meandering thoughts and inspirations … and also for the purpose of providing a place where clients (and friends and family) can come to check on my whereabouts and/or availability at times when I’m out of my office.

I know nothing about blogging, so please be patient with me as I learn and, hopefully, become better at it. I can think of no better time to launch this page than today - Summer Solstice!

Thank you to everyone who has phoned or emailed expressing concern for flooding in our area of the country. Quincy is a beautiful ”All-American City” (small town) situated high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. Quincy homes are not in danger …. but most everything around us is… the Red Cross is here…. the National Guard is here…. sandbagging is a major activity of the moment.

And it is officially Summertime!!!

Oh, one brief announcement for all my Tarot enthusiast friends: Ray Buckland’s Romani Tarot has just been re-published after having been out of print and near impossible to obtain for a number of years. If you happen to be one of those individuals who paid $500 - $2000 to obtain a used set, you may not be totally delighted to learn that the value of your used/rare set may have just dropped a nudge. But for those who would love to own an affordable working deck copy of Buckland’s Romani Tarot, I’m delighted to announce it’s now available and in stock. Retail is $34.95…. and I’m offering a 10% discount and free shipping on orders received through July 31st! Email or give me a call if you would like to own a copy of this wonderfully enchanting tarot deck and book set.
